Our Approach
Our model is simple yet powerful: stay connected, stay lean, and let every action be guided by empathy and evidence.
We keep our operations lean by collaborating with local not-for-profit organizations. Each cohort of single mothers is supported by a dedicated full-time team member from the foundation, based in their community, called a SAATHI — meaning companion.
To empower her work, we built the MY SAATHI app — a multilingual, mobile tool that tracks every single mother’s journey step by step.
We collaborate with trusted local NGOs that help us engage deeply with the local community and implement our programs on the ground. This approach allows us to stay lean with low overhead, understand local realities, build community trust, and design interventions that are truly responsive to local needs.
At Moti Khervan, Gujarat, our collaborator is Shakti Legal Aid and Human Rights Centre, a charitable trust with nearly two decades of experience working with marginalized communities across 9 districts and 270 villages in Gujarat, providing guidance and support to Adivasis, Dalits, and OBCs at the grassroots level. This collaboration strengthens our work and ensures that our mission remains grounded and sustainable.
We are deeply grateful to Mr. Rameshbhai Tadvi (Director), Father Paul D’Souza (former Managing Trustee) and Father John Kennedy (current Managing Trustee), and the entire Shakti team for their guidance, logistical support, community connections, and on-ground collaboration.

In Moti Khervan, Songadh Taluka, Gujarat, Roobinaben leads our first cohort of 13 single mothers. With a Master’s in Social Welfare and deep roots in the community, she brings both expertise and empathy to her work.
Roobinaben isn’t just a field worker; she’s a listener, a guide, and a bridge between the foundation and the women we serve. Our saathi connects personally with every single mother, co-creates her action plan, helps her access government welfare schemes, coordinates with local partners, and closely monitors her progress.
Fluent in the local dialect and attuned to the rhythms of village life, Roobinaben connects easily with the women she supports. Her days are spent listening, advising, and problem-solving, helping each mother navigate welfare systems, build skills, and regain confidence. She embodies the spirit of a true SAATHI - a compassionate companion walking beside women as they rebuild their lives.
Our Saathi
Gamit Roobinaben
"I witnessed the various difficult situations faced by the single mothers in the village. After that, by visiting the homes of every single mother and deeply understanding their problems, I began serving these sisters with joy. Whether it is obtaining documents or government office work, I keep these sisters alongside me and work according to their specific needs."

MY SAATHI app
To empower our Saathi, we built the MY SAATHI app, which helps her record updates directly from the field, giving the foundation a real-time view of every woman’s progress and impact.
Our vision is to eventually offer view-only access to our donors and collaborating NGO’s, enabling transparent insights into the progress of every single mother in the cohort they support.
As we learn from the ground, the app grows with us adapting to changing needs, improving every day, and ensuring that no mother walks her path alone.
